A peaceful community, it feels far away from the hustle and bustle of Orlando yet is actually only around a half-hour’s drive from all of its urban amenities. Located on the western shore of Lake Apopka, with its southwestern edge almost touching Florida’s Turnpike, it has a land area of 1.6 square miles.
Montverde is home to an estimated population of over 1,500 and has the added attraction of being just minutes away from the other South Lake communities of Minneola and Clermont.

The town maintains several parks: Kirk Park, Truskett Park, Lake Florence Park, and the historic Montverde Cemetery. Residents also have easy access to the 192-acre Ferndale Preserve, which features a playground and an over a mile-long equestrian/hiking trail. Also close by is the Green Mountain Scenic Overlook and Trailhead, the place to go for the best views of Greater Orlando. - It’s home to one of the top prep schools in the country.
Ever since Montverde Academy opened its doors here in 1912, it has been one of the town’s defining features. The independent co-ed college preparatory school has a beautiful campus encompassing around 130 acres and is known for its rigorous academic program and award-winning athletic teams. Its basketball team has gained national prominence.
